JERRY CRUNCHER: Now I think that when Dr. Manette heard the news of Charles Darnay being imprisoned, it shocked him back to reality. He started talking about his old days in the Bastille for the first time since his release. And, he even began to think that he could save Charles. So, Lucy, Miss Pross and Mr. Lorry went back to Paris with Dr. Manette in hopes of doing just that. When they got here I met them at the Defarge's wine shop and Dr. Manette tried to use his considerable influence with the revolutionaries, who sympathized with him for having served time in the Bastille. But Madame Defarge insisted on having her revenge against the Evrémonde family and she told everyone that Charles Darnay Saint Evrémonde will be tried for his crimes against the people of France and justice would not be denied! She was a bitter one that Madame Defarge!
